I don’t homeschool, why do I have to live through Spring Break?

Expectations from me this week should be low.  Anxiety will be high.

Four kids in 3 different schools.  What are the chances that ALL spring breaks fall together- this week?  When I’m PMS’ing?

Maybe I should play the lottery.

What’s worse?  I didn’t realize it until Friday.  The kids were abnormally chipper and bouncy.

“We’re off for a week!”

Sweet Jesus!  Talk about being caught off guard.

I suppose I could look at it as getting it all out of the way in one big swoop, but I prefer things in small doses, except Klonopin.

Home-school mothers… how do you do it?

Forget it- I don’t want to know.  I like them going to school.  Just know that I think you deserve big fat Saint awards and lots of booze.

Pimp me?

I prefer one big swoop. However, I don’t like it to sneak up on me!

  • I am a big fan of creating “jobs” that keep people(aka my kids) occupied… then I tell them if you don’t want to do one of the “jobs” I have for you then you need to find a way to occupy your time…(works like a charm with teenagers)
Unfortunately this plan only works for kids… say 12 or older. It totally defeats the purpose with younger kids because then they actually NEED your help to complete the job- and since I don’t know your kids ages I’m not sure that this helps…

Would they perhaps want to spend quality time with a grandma/aunt? You could ship them out… :)

  • As I sit here, my daughter is singing, loudly, during what is supposed to be her nap time. What I really want to know is, when do moms get spring break. I want one too.

  • yea… Spring break sucks.. I can totally relate.. but hey, my teen babysits so aside from listening to her bitch… no problem for me … I am at work!

  • Camp! It’s all about camp!

  • I have to admit that when I homeschooled I loved having my kids home ALL the time (yes, clearly I needed lots of help….lol) The year that they started school I heard myself muttering the words that I had looked down upon other mothers making just 3 days into Winter Break “I can’t wait for these kids going back to school!”

I think its harder because they just don’t know what to do with themselves during the day when the teachers tell them what they can and can’t do.

Here’s hoping you survive Spring Break!! xo

  • Me (last night): “Kids, time for bed.”
    “But Mommmmmmmmmmmmm, it’s only 10:00.”
    “Your bedtime is 10!”
“Why? WE DON’T HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW!”
“What the mother fucker? Why the hell not and why do we pay school taxes if not to take you people away from here for a few hours???”
    I HATE SURPRISE DAYS OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You know I homeschool Tena. Trust me, every day is like Spring break. HAHAHAHA But, you getused to it & give them activities to keep them busy. When my kids were in school I used to have reading challenges, craft days, we would go to the zoo, movies, library, park, museum or hell just watch tv all day!!
    Good Luck!

  • I homeschool and there are days I am not sure how I do it!

  • wanted to piss when I saw nicki’s comment…funny. (also saw Angie from All Adither.. I read both her blogs…small world. OH getting off on a tangent…to much vino, Spring break here as well…and I also have 4 kids. (well oldest just moved out, sob-sob and you would think I’d be glad to free up some more air to breathe at my house-NOT)….back on topic, I was about to lose my ever lovin’ mind today…to much talking, to much touching…have never felt that way until today. I needed some space today. really.
