No Faking it Here

What’s a woman gotta do to get some love?

So yesterday was Valentine’s day.  I don’t pretend to like that day. I never have. But this year- I REALLY wasn’t in the mood!

I didn’t change my Facebook status to show me and my husband and say how we met and how long we’ve been together. Corny!  Or maybe I just have a bad attitude- possibly, both.

It’s no secret that we’ve been under a lot of stress and stress is hard on a marriage- we’re no exception.

He’s working a lot and resenting it.  I resent that he resents it and thinks I do nothing.  He resents that I write this and I’ve probably already said too much.

It’s fucking butterflies and rainbows here, folks.

No gifts or niceties were exchanged.  Well, I take that back… we refrained from telling each other to screw off yesterday- you know, in the spirit of the made up Hallmark holiday.

He did call on his way home last night (11pm) and asked if I wanted him to pick up anything for me for Valentine’s day from the 24 gas station.  And what woman’s heart wouldn’t be warmed by THAT gesture?

Pimp me?

  • If someone told all the truths about marriage that you don’t realize until your already there, no one would ever ever get married.

    ;-)

  • Sorry I don’t mean to laugh, but your story hits so close to home I could almost swear you were peeking through our windows. We didn’t even wish each other a Happy Valentine’s Day. Oh well, hopefully Paczki Day will be better!

  • oh yeah–sounds like our day. He told me my gift was allowing me to sleep off my mardi gras hangover and pizza for lunch.

Guess I should hush up, cuz I needed that

  • I personally do not like Valentines Day. My husband did go tot he store and him and the kids bought me lots of chocolate which is good because it is that time of the month. As for the stress and butterflies and rainbows the stress is here the butterfly’s and rainbows have long sailed. Hopefully thigns will calm down but until then we are here, we are family, we love eachother and we dont have to show it for that horrid holiday.

  • Valentine’s Day can suck it. lol

  • Sounds a lot like my life! It is just a rough patch though. The hubs actually got mad at me because I bought him something other than a card and candy this year. he was just pissed because all he got me was a card and candy.

  • Well. At least you didn’t make a reservation for one & take yourself out on Valentine’s day and the couple sitting next to you while you were reading your book & eating your scrumptious pasta picked up your bill & tipped the waitress enough for desert. That would have just been pathetic…….. oops. Raise your hand for pathetic-ness ;)

  • I hear ya, sista! We are trying to buy a house and we are at each others throats no stop these days. I swear we have spent $1,000 on anxiety meds… can I buy stock in Zoloft and Ativan? Really…. and my husband is a little bitch when he doesnt take his mood stablizers… we didnt go Vday either…

V-day is SO overrated. We never do anything. Although, my husband is awesome the other 364 days of the year, so I don’t really care. Plus his b-day is a week later-why waste effort/money on a fake holiday when 7 days later, I really need to do something that’s meaningful. Although, this year, I did get him to watch a chick flick with me. So I guess we did something.

  • We didn’t do anything…no cards, no little heart shaped boxes of candy, no nothing. It’s a money holiday anyways and frankly just because I’m married now doesn’t make me like Valentine’s Day anymore than I did when I was single. OH and even though I’m not a fan of V-day it IRKS me when someone says ValenTIMES day…
